this, this is what soundstage is supposed to soundlike - not the hard-panned L-R experience that headphones give you. People keep talking about soundstage on headphones. I knew they had this, but I can't believe I haven't seen many people even talk about the need for virtualization for headphones. If you are a producer or engineer, Waves has this tech available for your DAW so you can mix on the go. I feel like I'm listening to a pair of monitor speakers on my desk. heck even HD800 I think the DSP artifacts will be less noticeable or not at all. I think the trade off for spatialization is worth it though, and on a pair of HD650s. Is the pure tone better? Of course, just a bit. So a newer (post 2014) machine should be good.įinally, it is going to have some artifacts from the DSP, that can't be avoided. For certain iTunes (shudder) works with this though. It could have been some conflicts with bit rate and possibly system exclusive settings. I noticed I got a few issues using Waves NX with other audio apps. I didn't care for Mobius gaming aspects, but the virtualization + tracking combined make this experience even more immersive. except I'm using it with my Utopia, and its using Face tracking, which does a decent job. This is the same tech used in the Audeze Mobius. Waves NX by default will have the system preferences output to 'Waves NX', and you will have to setup Waves NX to output to your DAC. The first test was to load up Craig Armstrong into itunes. I remember using their Waves compressors and limiters for mastering back in the day. Waves NX is made by one of the best digital signal processing companies in the entire audio industry. There is Boom 3D - but the DSP algorith sounds like a tin can. There is the old Hajo software, which is out-of-date and doesn't work with the latest version of Mac OSX. Frustrated in not seeming to have any good OS X based headphone virtualization.
